Narva-Jõesuu Sanatorium

Narva-Jõesuu has been one of the most beautiful holiday destinations in Estonia for years already. Narva-Jõesuu started to develop as a resort in the year 1872. Already in 1876, the first water treatment centre was built here, followed by the second one in 1902 and finally, a sanatorium in 1909. People came here from St. Petersburg, Moscow, the Crimean and the Caucasus. Visitors included such famous people as the painters I. Repin and G. Shishkin, the composer A. Glazunov and the writers N. Leskov and D. Mamin-Sibiryak. The beach as well as the forest parks surrounding it is well preserved until today. The 7 km long sandy beach between Meriküla and Narva-Jõesuu is unique due to its white sand and high-rise dunes which are bordered by pine trees.
