The country\u2019s spa traditions date back hundreds of years. One of the reasons such resorts developed here was the local mud famed for its therapeutic qualities. P\u00e4rnu, Haapsalu, Kuressaare and Narva-J\u00f5esuu have been fashionable resorts since the 1820s, while V\u00e4rska, Kubija, P\u00fchaj\u00e4rve, Toila, Viimsi and of course Tallinn also boast excellent spas.<\/p>\n

2008 saw the completion of a medical spa hotel quality system, and the first therapeutic spas underwent accreditation. The system was designed to inform clients of the range of services available and of the nature of these services. The fact that the services meet the requirements of the system \u2013 and the extent to which they meet them \u2013 is a sign of quality that clients can be guided by in visiting Estonia\u2019s spas.<\/p>\n

So far medical spa status has been granted to Toila Spa Hotel<\/a>\u00a0in Toila,\u00a0Tervis Medical Spa<\/a> in P\u00e4rnu, the Viiking Spa Hotel<\/a>\u00a0and Estonia Medical Spa Hotel<\/a> in P\u00e4rnu, Fra Mare Thalasso Spa<\/a> and Spa Hotel Laine<\/a>\u00a0in Haapsalu\u00a0and V\u00e4rska Spa Hotel & Water Park<\/a> in V\u00e4rska.<\/p>\n

A quality system is also being developed for wellness spas, as part of which we hope to be able to certify the first centres in the near future.<\/p>\n
